Bjorn Turmann’s first novel, Good Daughter was published in September 2005 by Equinox (www.equinoxpublishing.com). It’s available at all leading bookstores in Asia and on Amazon (www.amazon.com). It’s also available at Books & Books in Miami (www.booksandbooks) and Village Books (www.villagebooks.com).
I was very pleased to speak at both stores
in November 2005. Books & Books has hosted an endless
line-up of prominent authors and speakers.
I was honoured to be speaking after Alan Alda,
famed actor and author.

Good Daughter is a tale of cross-cultural intrigue and personal discovery. Set in Thailand, it follows the journeys of six characters: two imaginative Thai bar girls, a paranoid, well paid American expatriate and his cynical, corrupting Australian mentor, a young American university graduate and an Isaan villager whose reoccurring presence borders on the mythical. Combining entertaining and dramatic narrative with poignant psychological themes, this is a novel that challenges the reader to look beneath the surface in order to try to understand what influences the characters’ behaviour. At the conclusion of the story we are shown that, by releasing ourselves from that which binds us, we are able to attain greater hope and, ultimately, freedom.
