Of coups and floods....

Well, not sure if I am the first novelist to launch a book just after a military coup when the country is still under marshall law...but if I'm not, I would love to hear from other writers who've experienced the same thing.

Yes, Thailand had a peaceful coup, but it has changed "the energy" of the country a bit. To live under a "peaceful marshall law" is an interesting thing...let's hope the military doesn't take exception to the contents of my book!

On October 10th I attempted to have a book launch party at QBar in Bangkok. That night, Bangkok experienced one of its worst rainstorms in over a decade. The streets were flooded and it was literally a "tropical chaos" out there. What a night to have a book party! Well, quite a few diehards braved the elements, took off their shoes and waded through knee high (if not higher) water to get to QBar and help me celebrate. It was a wild night! Thanks to David and Denis at QBar for keeping the vodka flowing.
